Speaking as a guy who's really got it going on:

Ah, Lord Kiefer, I hear you and your family will be leaving us very soon. It is a shame to hear of it, of course, and I hope you keep Emeron in your thoughts. Though I imagine it would be difficult to do otherwise, as it is such a memorable city.

Lord Hasten, I suppose this means you and yours will be leaving soon as well? I would not be surprised. Though I must say, Lady Amaeyra, it is always a shame to have to bid farewell to a lady as lovely as you. I am sure we will meet again soon in the future, and look forward to it, if you are indeed to be on your way back to Lireth shortly.

Indeed, it seems as though many are choosing to leave us. I suppose they simply want to return home before winter sets in upon us all. A shame, regardless. Emeron is always at its best when full of admirers.

And now the blessed day is nearly upon us. After all this waiting I half expect that some calamity will fall upon us and set before us yet another delay, but I will hope that's not the case. Certainly everyone is excited, though none could possibly be as enthralled as Lady Isanae and I are together. Before long, the both of us will be wed, and then we can put all of the rest of this nonsense behind us.

It is certainly about time.

Lady Isanae. I hope our guests have not been too taxing on your attentions? Only let me know if you feel like there is too much being asked of you.

Does our city please you once again, Lady Amaeyra? We are so pleased to have you here.

Hm, already the mood in the city is lightening. Surely the people here sense that there is finally to be an end to all of this senseless delay? I can hardly wait until the blessed day itself, if I am to be entirely honest, whether present company is entirely pleasant or not.

Welcome, then, to Emeron, honored guests, and others. I am glad to see you are enjoying your stay thus far.

Hm. I think it has been long enough now that the distaste from that horrid play has faded, and I rather would like to see a show. A man must amuse himself, after all, while others dally on the roads and enjoy luxuries they don't deserve.

Besides, so much of the planning for the wedding is already in place that I'm sure my presence would not be missed in what little remains. Lady Isanae, if you would, I would like to pull you away from making arrangements. I am certain my mother can be talked into it.

Really. Your sister's wedding approaches, Lord Hasten, and yet you still find the time to lounge in luxury while the entire North grows impatient of your delays. Have you not an ounce of decency? Were you truly the Lion everyone calls you, surely you could push aside pointless celebrations now in favor of the grand one awaiting upon your arrival in Emeron.

I'm certain your companions have their own fair share in this, but it is you that must bear most of the weight of responsibility, Lord Hasten. I hope whatever feast you eat there sours in your stomachs. Festival or no, it has been more than long enough that you've kept us waiting.

Well, it's good to know some people are capable of keeping any sort of schedule after all. I was beginning to think that some of the North had forgotten their manners in the first place. But if you have left as promised, Lord Hasten, well, perhaps I can forgive some of your long history of oversights. Certainly, Lady Isanae must be pleased to hear that this long period of delay is at an end.

I know that all of Emeron is already prepared, as it has been for some time. Now that some long-shirked responsibilities have been taken up again, perhaps things can go back to how they ought be.

Hmph. I know it is some days gone now, Lady Philippa, but I still find it difficult to believe you amassed such a crowd for your birthday celebrations. It must have been the allure of a lovely lady, for certain. I can think of no other reason why the party would have been so grand.

Mm, though it was some days ago, I did enjoy my birthday celebration. I find that there is always an air which lingers in Emeron after my birthday passes, which energizes the people of my lovely city. I believe I have even noticed it among the commons, who are surely only jealous that they could not attend such a celebration, but regardless.

Lady Philippa, it was indeed good to see you again. I should hope by now you have decided how grand an event to hold for your own birthday, and should you decide to hold one at all, that we will be seeing you soon. I understand, of course, if the magnitude of my own celebration will have put you off of holding one entirely. If that is the case, I would offer an apology, but I'm afraid it would do both of us little good.

Lady Isanae. While I'm sure you must be disappointed that Lady Philippa has decided to locate herself elsewhere, surely you must be pleased at the fact that now we have even more time to spend together.

Shall we have a private dinner again tonight?

Hm. I already feel more reassured of the artistic landscape of Emeron, after our time at the galleries today. While I would hardly make haste back to the theater, with the chance of offal like that still being performed, I no longer feel quite as dismal about things as I did before.

Perhaps we might make a regular event of attending the galleries, in the meantime between worthy performances. Lady Isanae, I would be especially interested in private outings between you and I.

Hmph. There does seem to be a great deal of discussion about the capital on these books of late. I should hope that neither Lady Isanae nor our guest Lady Philippa feel downhearted about not being present for the occasion, but surely Emeron has more than enough to entertain anyone present.

Perhaps it is time we arranged for some sort of group outing? I am certain neither Benedette nor Canti would have any protests, is that not right, sisters? And if they have none, then surely none of my other sisters could argue.

Though summer has certainly fully descended upon Emeron, I still find it difficult to believe it is near June. It seems like only yesterday that it was January or earlier, does it not? I suppose the passage of time simply reminds me, once again, of certain events that have been needlessly delayed, but there is little to be done about those until certain circumstances are met.

Lady Isanae, I should like to go for a ride, with only you and I, if you would be so willing?

I believe my desire to attend the theater has been henceforth tainted from attending that ridiculous tripe disguising itself as a show. When I now look at the theater listings, all I can recall is how terrible our most recent attendance was, and that alone is enough to stifle my wishes to attend anything for several months.

It is truly a shame. I was so enjoying our evenings out together. Lady Isanae, certainly you feel the same? How utterly disheartening. I suppose it is back to the standard flow of things.

I ought to have the director of that filth thrown from Emeron and into the country with only the clothing upon his back. Honestly.

Truly absurd. And completely uncalled for. Does the man not know to whom he is answering? I am Tarmon of Emeron. He speaks as though he believes himself higher than me. There is no man as such.

An outrage. An outrage I will not stand for, and he will be made to regret it whenever he decides to grace us with his presence.

Hm. Much as I enjoy the holiday, while some of us wile away our time playing the hero to the peasants of Eblar, the rest of us have responsibilities that need attending to. I'm certain I'm not alone in finding this absolutely reprehensible?

Regardless. I hope my countrymen are indeed enjoying themselves in the capital while the rest of us toil away.

Well, Lady Philippa, it seems to be warming at last. I hope the warmer weather is more to your taste? I for one will be glad to put this long, cold winter behind us for good. I'm sure most all of Dentoria can agree, not to speak of all those in Emeron.

Sister, have you spoken to the others about the theater?

Lady Philippa, I am glad to see you have been enjoying your stay in our home. Is there anything that can be done to make you more comfortable? Simply say so. I am also pleased that you and Lady Isanae have become so comfortable with one another.

I must admit, the ceaseless delays in certain planned events is grating on me more by the day. Surely my lovely betrothed agrees?

I am sure Lady Isanae agrees with me that it is an utmost shame our marriage ceremony has had to be postponed. But of course, I would not want her to have to go forward in it without adequate support. Such a shame, but never let it be said I did not do my best for my future wife.

In the meantime, my dear betrothed, would you like to see a show, or take a private dinner, perhaps? Whatever it takes to make up for the delay.

I am not a child, so why am I being treated as one? Absurd. I am a grown man, and I will not be made to

Hmph

[Filter: Public]

Lady Isanae. If we might, my father has suggested we have dinner privately together tonight. Do you have any preference as to what we dine on?
